Brooklyn Park is the latest city to ask residents to cut back on water use.

On Tuesday afternoon, the city released an advisory asking residents to cut non-essential water use by as much as 50 percent.

As of Aug. 10, every county in the state is experiencing abnormally dry or moderate drought conditions. About 31 percent of the state is experiencing severe drought.

The metro area is experiencing severe drought conditions.

Brooklyn Park is the latest city to ask residents to cut back on their water use.

Non-essential water uses include vehicle washing, commercial irrigation and lawn watering.

The requests comes on top of the odd-even street address lawn watering restrictions in place through September 30.

The city is asking residents to avoid watering their lawns between 4-10 p.m., the hottest part of the afternoon and evening.
